Prescott Hearth Kindergarten

Unlock the love of learning

Welcome to your beginnings

Kindergarten at Prescott Hearth marks a child’s gentle entry into formal learning—where wonder is preserved, but given shape through rhythm, guidance, and meaningful work.

In these early years, we do not rush. We cultivate attention, delight in language, and a growing awareness of number and pattern. Each day invites the child not only to learn, but to notice, to listen, and to begin engaging thoughtfully with the world around them.

Through a carefully balanced rhythm of lessons, stories, and hands-on exploration, students begin forming the habits that will support all future learning: attentiveness, perseverance, and quiet confidence.

Kinder Classes

This year is not simply a year of preparation—it is the beginning of a child’s academic life.

With care, intention, and a deep respect for childhood, we lay the groundwork for the years to come—forming not only skills, but habits of mind and heart that will endure.

01

Math

Using MEP Mathematics alongside Singapore-inspired approaches, students are gently guided to see how numbers work—through conversation, visual models, and thoughtful problem-solving.

Lessons emphasize understanding over memorization, allowing children to build a strong and flexible foundation.

Rather than rushing ahead, we take time to ensure that each concept is clearly grasped, fostering both confidence and a natural enjoyment of mathematical thinking.

02

Reading

Through All About Reading Level 1, students are introduced to phonics in a clear and systematic way, learning to blend sounds, recognize patterns, and begin reading with confidence. At the same time, rich read-alouds and shared stories continue to nurture vocabulary, comprehension, and a love for language.

This balanced approach allows students not only to learn how to read, but to grow into thoughtful and attentive readers.

03

Core Studies

Our core studies are shaped through Beyond the Page (Ages 4–5), where literature, science, and the study of the world come together in meaningful and engaging ways.

Each unit begins with a story, inviting students into new ideas through narrative and imagination. From there, children explore connections through discussion, simple projects, and hands-on activities—developing both understanding and curiosity.

This integrated approach encourages students to see learning as connected and purposeful, while gently building the habits of attention and inquiry that will carry into the years ahead.

Kindergarten Readiness

Is your little one ready?

Kindergarten is a meaningful step forward, and readiness helps ensure that students experience success with confidence and joy.

Children entering Kindergarten are typically able to:

Recognize most letters and produce many of their sounds
Demonstrate early phonological awareness (rhyming, beginning sounds)
Count to at least 20 and recognize numbers to 10
Hold a pencil and attempt simple writing
Attend to short lessons and follow simple directions

These early foundations allow students to engage fully with the program’s gentle academic progression.
If your child is still developing in several of these areas, we warmly recommend allowing additional time in Preschool or Jr. Kindergarten.
